The Man Child

Qedamawi Haile Selassie”The Man Child” looks straight forward with his mouth closed, while he stares boldly. Although still a youth, there’s a sense of manhood felt in this portrait while it glows with a golden light directly on his face. He wears a long sleeve green gown with a cross around his neck. The background represents the colors ¬†of the Ethiopian Flag in red, yellow, and green.

As a young child, Lij Tafari had truly astounded the priest with the depth of his knowledge concerning religious and mystical matters. This portrait evokes a feeling of a righteous God man in the body of a child.
