Haile Selassie The Field Marshal

Haile Selassie

This drawing of our Lord Emperor Haile Selassie the Field Marshal was done in grey green oil pastel mostly using the cross hatch technique for shading. This portrait of the Emperor is done in a three quarter view wearing a military uniform. As his face emerges from the dark shadows, the front of his face is lit with light creating mood and atmosphere. His expression is of militance as his thick bushy eyebrows sit heavily above his eyes as he stare without a flinch. This drawing gives a sense of His Imperial Majesties’ firm rulership.
